Since 2013, Detroit City FC has selected an annual charity partner through a community-owner-driven process. Each season, community owners nominate potential organizations, with three finalists advancing for consideration. The club’s community owners then vote to select the charity partner, ensuring the initiative remains rooted in the values and priorities of the DCFC community.

Founded in 1929, Capuchin Soup Kitchen serves people in metro Detroit through food, clothing and human-development programs for people experiencing poverty and other challenging circumstances. Its programs support thousands of families and individuals each day, including the provision of more than 1,000 meals daily. Capuchin Soup Kitchen is a ministry of the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph, headquartered in Detroit.

The all-green design features a floral motif that pays tribute to the organization’s beautiful gardens, which provide sustenance to local individuals in need. Interwoven among the florals is the quote, “It is in giving that we receive,” attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, which underscores the spirit of generosity behind the organization’s mission.
